Out of the blue...
Friday, 23rd Feb, 2007.
Rohit was tense the whole day. The Session C results are out and he's waiting for the good news. The worried look gave me the oportunity to pull his leg. Arrey yaar!! You are in T-20, why the f*** are u bothered? See I am in LE-10 and still smiling. I guess my words reassured him of his position.
Sachin came at around 3:25AM. We casually greeted each other, when I asked him "R u going to give me any feedback today?" He smiled with a gentle nod. My next question was "How much time its gonna take?" to which he replied "Why? Are you leaving? It will take about 30-45 min". We were climbing down the stairs on our way out for a smoke, when suddenly he stopped. "What feedback should I give you, You are in T-20". For a moment I was speechless. "mazaaq mat karoo" were the words I could manage to speak after a pause. He told me that my data was good contrary to what people believe and bacause my attrition rate was low, I came up the stack.
Jason asked me to drop him home, so I was waiting for him in my car. Suddenly the past 7-8 months were in front of my eyes. Nobody, including me thought that I would be in T-20. So many fights, stinkers, opening my mouth when others were quiet fearing it might screw their Session C rating. I was really happy that I got this purely on the basis of my hard work and that the leadership perceives me as an asset and future leader.
Thank you god...It was truly an unexpected gift from the blue.
